August 17th of my book: ‘How To Change Your Life One Day At A Time‘.
Take the opportunity today to be aware of your thoughts.
We each have countless thousands of thoughts every day, but how many are we actually aware of? Of course we’re aware of them as we think them but are we aware that we’re aware?
Sounds like a dumb question but bare with me a second.
When you have a thought about something or maybe someone, obviously you’re conscious of the act of thinking at that moment. However, the true awareness comes when you start to think about why you’re having that thought.
For example maybe you got angry seeing someone throw litter from a car, you had the thought of how ignorant they must be spoiling the environment like that. Now examine why you thought that. Could it be because you hate to see litter on the floor but it’s not your job to pick it up, so it’s going to stay there and make the place look dirty and untidy?
You may feel guilty that you too are going to leave it there. Or maybe you are affected by the laziness of the litterbug, you’re not lazy so why are they?
Whatever your thought is, think about why you’re having it. It might say more about you than you realise. Try and get past the justifying thoughts and get deep down into the core reasons why you think that way.
Enjoy
