When was the last time you got away?

Take the opportunity today to plan a trip.

You may be lucky enough to be working in a job you love, but you still need to get away from it all from time to time. For those of you who don’t particularly like their job or maybe don’t even have a job, getting away from it all is even more necessary. The usual excuse for those who are busy is they don’t have time and for those without a job it’s I can’t afford it. Well here’s a question for you:

1) For those of you that are too busy, what would happen if you were hit by the proverbial bus tomorrow? What would happen at work? Would it get done by someone else? Whatever catastophe happened would it turn out all right in the end? Of course it would. Maybe you own your own business and you’re the only one there. Would your clients all desert you if you took a week off? (If the answer to that is yes by the way – you need to look for better clients!)

The point is, life will go on and everything will be just fine if you took a week off to have some time for yourself.

2) For those who can’t afford it – you don’t have the excuse of worrying about work but you don’t have to ‘pay’ to get away. Surely you can visit some friends or family even for a few days. Borrow a tent and go camp in a field. Take the bus to somewhere you don’t normally go and explore. We’re talking pennies here.

The important thing is to get away from our present surroundings. When we do this we get a chance to see things in a different light, from a different angle. We can have thoughts that we don’t usually have. ‘A change is as good as a rest’ someone once said, and that’s exactly what a holiday (of any sort or duration) is all about.
